Author Guidelines are based on CSE’s White Paper on Promotion Integrity in Scientific Journal Publications, 2012 Update and ICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals, December 2016.

Mission of Nauchnyi Dialog — organizing a dialogue between national research traditions in the humanitarian branches of science - historical and philological.
Tasks:
1) accumulation of knowledge about Russian culture through studies of language, literature and Russian history as the main markers of identity surrounded by other identities;
2) exchange of interpretations of a foreign cultural text: Russian literature and history as interpreted by foreign colleagues - and foreign literary and historical discourse as interpreted by Russian researchers;
3) presentation of the observations of researchers from different countries of the media development as a factor in globalization;
4) inviting researchers from different countries to present and discuss theories, approaches, methods, techniques for analyzing language, text, discourse, since due to a long period of closed development of national scientific traditions and schools, discrepancies have accumulated in the choice of research problems, interpretations of key terms, methodological preferences.
Articles on scientific specialties of such fields of science as “HISTORICAL SCIENCES” and “PHILOLOGY” (according to the nomenclature of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation) are accepted for consideration:

THE JOURNAL ACCEPTS for consideration (1) review articles containing theoretical and statistical generalizations and (2) original research articles presenting the results of empirical investigations.
LANGUAGE OF PUBLICATIONS: Russian.
Each article is provided with metadata in English.
All submitted manuscripts undergo mandatory PEER REVIEW (reviews provided by authors are not accepted).
The journal accepts materials from doctoral students, specialists, and experts in the field. Articles from doctoral students, applicants, and other students can only be prepared in collaboration with a supervisor.
The maximum number of co-authors is 3.
One author can submit no more than two articles for consideration within 1 year.
Rejection rate: 35–42 %.
I. Recommendations to the Author before Submitting an Article
The submission of an article to the journal NAUCHNYI DIALOG implies that:
- the article has not been previously published in another journal;
- the article is not under consideration in another journal;
- all co-authors agree with the publication of the current version of the article.
Before submitting the article for review, please ensure that all necessary information is included in the files, sources of information placed in figures and tables are indicated, and all quotations are correctly formatted.
The author does not prepare English metadata. Translations of personal data, article titles, abstracts, and bibliographies will be done by the editorial staff after the article is accepted. When submitting an article, the author may propose an English version of their name and grant reference formulation.
On the title page of the article:
i. Author's name (authors)
Authors are individuals who have been identified by the research team as the main contributors to the work presented and who have agreed to take responsibility for their work. In addition to being responsible for their own part of the work, the author should be able to specify which of their co-authors is responsible for other parts of the work.
The journal NAUCHNYI DIALOG accepts the following criteria for authorship:
- Substantial contribution to the conception and design of the study, data collection, or analysis and interpretation of data.
- Preparation of the article or critical revision of it for important intellectual content.
- Final approval of the version of the article to be published.
People who are not authors of the article are not included in the list of authors. Names of individuals who are not authors but have provided other support should be mentioned in the ‘Acknowledgements’ section.
When listing authors in Russian, the surname should be listed before the first name and patronymic (Иванов Павел Андреевич).
When listing authors in English, the format 'First name, middle initial, surname' should be used (Pavel A. Ivanov). Surnames in English should be indicated according to the foreign passport or as they were indicated in previously published articles. If the author does not have a foreign passport and/or publications, the BSI standard should be used for transliterating the surname and name.
ii. Author Information
In this section, the title, position, and other credentials of the author(s) are listed. The email address and full mailing address of the corresponding author should also be provided.
iii. Author Affiliation
The affiliation includes the following information: the official name of the organization (according to the Charter), mailing address (including postal code, city, and country). Authors should indicate all places of work that are relevant to the research.
If authors from different institutions were involved in the preparation of the article, it is necessary to specify the affiliation of each author to a specific institution.
The official English name of the institution should be clarified based on the Charter.
iv. Article Title
The title of the article in Russian should correspond to its content.
v. Abstract
The recommended length of a structured abstract in Russian is 150-160 words. The abstract should include the following sections: Problem, Objective, Material, Methods, Results.
Sentences should be brief and clear (for accurate translation).
Concisely describe the problem, objective, material, and approaches.
Provide more detailed information about the results, conclusions, and main findings.
The abstract should not include newly introduced terms, abbreviations, or references to literature.
Use cliches for abstracts: ‘A study was conducted... Issues are considered... The article is devoted to... (…) units of material were analyzed... Materials are used... The sources were... Materials for analysis were extracted from... New data is introduced into scientific circulation... Definitions are given... A review is done... Comparative analysis results are presented... Attention is paid to... The question is raised about... It is reported that... It is emphasized that... It is shown that... The authors claim that... The author focuses on... A classification is proposed... A typology is developed... An author's development is presented... It is proven that... The author concludes that... The novelty of the research lies in... The relevance of the research is determined by...’ etc.
vi. Keywords
5-7 words related to the article topic. It is desirable for the keywords to complement the abstract and the article title.
vii. Acknowledgments
This section should include all sources of research funding, as well as acknowledgments to individuals who contributed to the work on the article but are not authors. Participation in the work on the article implies: recommendations for improving the research, providing space for research, departmental control, receiving financial support, individual types of analysis.
viii. Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest is a condition in which people have conflicting or competing interests that can influence editorial decision-making. Conflicts of interest can be potential or conscious, as well as actually existing. Personal, political, financial, scientific, or religious factors can affect objectivity.
The author must inform the editor about a real or potential conflict of interest by including information about the conflict of interest in the corresponding section of the article.
If there is no conflict of interest, the author should also indicate this. Examples of wording for a single author and for author collectives:
(1) The author declares no conflicts of interests.
(2) Contribution of the authors: the authors contributed equally to this article.
The authors declare no conflicts of interests.
(3) Contribution of the authors:

The file should be up to 5000 words (22 pages).
The IMRaD format is accepted in the journal (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion):
1. Introduction
The text should be at least 1 page. Describe the scientific problem, the degree of its research, relevance, and novelty compared to previous studies.
2. Material, Methods, Review
Text, 1-3 pages. Describe the material and purpose of the work (for linguists also the procedure for analyzing the material, methods; for historical works - characteristics of the source base) against the background of approaches and results of other researchers who have addressed the selected issues [Vorkachev, 2004, p. 37; Zaliznyak et al., 2005, pp. 156-157]. The text should not contain lists of scientists' names without references to their publications.
3. Results and Discussion
Text, 7-12 pages, divided into thematic sections.

Text. Foreign language material is accompanied by translations (in parentheses). The system for presenting the material: the word life, the notion (idea) «life», the concept LIFE, the lexical-semantic field «Life».

x. Figures
Figures should be of good quality and suitable for printing.
All figures should have captions.
The caption should be translated into English.
Figures are numbered in Arabic numerals according to their order in the text. If there is only one figure in the text, it is not numbered.
References to figures are formatted as follows: "As shown in Fig. 3, ..." or "Next, we present a diagram (Fig. 3)."
The caption includes the figure number and its title. It is centered: "Fig. 2. Varieties of Internet memes."
No period is placed after the caption.
The translation of the caption should be placed after the Russian caption.
xi. Tables
Tables should be of good quality and suitable for printing. Preferably, editable tables should be used instead of scanned or image-based ones.
All tables should have titles.
The title of the table should be translated into English.
Tables are numbered in Arabic numerals according to their order in the text. If there is only one table in the text, it is not numbered.
References to tables are formatted as follows: "As stated in Table 3, ..." or "Let us present the organized data (Table 3)."
The table title includes the table number (aligned to the right) and its title (aligned to the center):

xii. Screenshots and Photographs
Photographs, screenshots, and other non-drawn illustrations should be uploaded separately in a special section of the article submission form as files in *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.gif formats (*.doc and *.docx if additional annotations are added to the image). Image files should be given a name corresponding to the figure number in the text. The file description should separately provide a subcaption that matches the title of the photograph included in the text.
xiii. Footnotes
Footnotes are numbered using Arabic numerals, placed on a per-page basis, and contain author's comments. However, the editorial board recommends avoiding footnotes whenever possible, including comments and accompanying information within the text using inline constructions (in parentheses), etc.
xiv. Bibliography and In-text Citations
In-text citations are given in square brackets, which indicate the name of the author, the year of publication and the page (range of pages), e.g. [Polanin, 2004, p. 47] or [Polanin, 2004, p. 47–48]. When dictionaries, archival documents or similar materials are cited, the abbreviated name of the source, the volume number (if any) and the page (if any) are indicated, e.g.: [SRNG, v. 8, p. 75] or [FSDRS, p. 7], with the full name of the source being provided in the Reference list. When several publications are cited, the names of the authors are given in alphabetical order, separated by semicolons: [Egorov, 1983, p. 213–218; Kapitonova, 1991, p. 83]. When several works by the same author are cited, they are listed in chronological order: [Istrin, 1984; Istrin, 1997] or [Ivanov, 2001a; Ivanov, 2001b]. When authors with the same family name are cited, their initials are also provided. For publications by two or three authors, the first author is mentioned followed by “et al”. For publications by more than three authors, or when a collection of papers is cited, the first word in the title is provided, e.g.: [Microflora ..., 1994], [Calculation method ..., 2007, p. 17].
Quotes must be provided with an indication of the page number.
Please do not use electronic versions of books, dictionaries, if they have printed versions.
The bibliography is divided into Material resources and References. They are placed at the end of the article, and within each list, the descriptions are given in alphabetical order.
Material resources: This includes dictionaries, archives, documents, newspapers, and other media. References to Wikipedia are not recommended.
References: This category includes scientific research, with a minimum of 15 references in alphabetical order.
In the general list, Russian literature should be listed first, followed by foreign literature. In the case of works written in non-alphabetic scripts (such as Chinese), it is recommended to provide abbreviations in Russian and provide a translation of the description in Russian.
The list of literature should demonstrate that the author is familiar with research related to their topic, including recent publications. If the article has a DOI number, it should be included as an identifier.
The author may reference no more than two of their own works.
It is important to rely on scientific literature rather than textbooks.
Publications from the past decade should be included.
All references in the list of literature should be cited in the text of the article (i.e. only works that the author actually references in the text should be included in the list of literature).
Please conduct thorough searches in scientific databases. It is recommended to cite foreign publications as well.

When describing a source, its DOI should be provided if it can be found (this can be done in 95% of cases for foreign sources).
References to accepted but not yet published articles should be marked as "in press"; authors must obtain written permission to cite such documents and confirmation that they have been accepted for publication. Information from unpublished sources should be marked as "unpublished data/documents", and authors must also obtain written confirmation to use such materials.
References to journal articles must include the year of publication, volume and issue number of the journal, and page numbers.
All authors should be presented in the description of each source.
References should be verified, and the publication details should be checked on the official websites of journals and/or publishers.
The author is not prepared to translate the list of literature into English.
The author is not required to prepare a translation of the list of literature into English.
II. How to submit an article for consideration
The manuscript of the article is submitted to the editorial office through an online form. The uploaded file with the article should be in Microsoft Word format (with extensions *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf).
III. Interaction between the journal and the author
The journal's editorial office engages in correspondence with the responsible (contact) author. However, if desired by the authoring team, emails can be sent to all authors for whom an email address is provided.
All articles submitted to the journal NAUCHNYI DIALOG undergo a preliminary review by the responsible journal secretary to ensure compliance with formal requirements. At this stage, the article may be returned to the author(s) for revision, with a request to address errors or add missing data. Additionally, at this stage, the article may be rejected due to non-alignment with the journal's aims and scope, lack of originality, or low scientific value. A significant number of errors (spelling, punctuation, linguistic) can also be a reason for rejection.
After the preliminary review, the responsible editor forwards the article to a reviewer, specifying the review deadline. The author is notified accordingly.
In contentious cases, the editor may involve multiple experts in the review process, as well as the editor-in-chief.
Upon receiving a positive review, the article is passed on to the editor for preparation for publication.
If a decision is made to revise the article, the reviewer's comments and suggestions are conveyed to the author. The author is given 2 months to address these comments. If the author does not inform the editorial office of their intended actions within this timeframe, the article is removed from the publication queue.
If a decision is made to reject the article for publication, a corresponding message is sent to the author.
The responsible (contact, corresponding) author of an accepted article receives the final version of typesetting, which they are obligated to review. A response is expected from the authors within 1 day. In the absence of a reaction from the author, the typesetting of the article is considered approved.
IV. Procedure for reviewing editor / reviewer decisions
If the author disagrees with the conclusions of the reviewer and/or editor or with specific comments, they may challenge the decision. To do so, the author should:
- Revise the manuscript of the article according to the substantiated comments of the reviewers and editors.
- Clearly state their position on the issue under consideration.
The editor-in-chief evaluates the validity of the reviewer's and author's positions, if necessary discussing the acceptability of revision options with the reviewer or a second expert involved, and makes a final decision that is not subject to further discussion or revision. The editorial office does not engage in debate and suggests that authors submit the article to other publications where it may receive a different evaluation.
Editors facilitate the resubmission of manuscripts that could potentially be accepted but were rejected due to the need for significant changes or additional data collection. They are willing to explain in detail what needs to be corrected in the manuscript for it to be accepted for publication.
V. Actions of the editorial board in case of plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data
In case of discovering misconduct on the part of the author, such as plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, the editorial board follows the guidelines set by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).
The journal NAUCHNYI DIALOG defines “misconduct” as any actions by a scientist that involve improper handling of research objects or intentional manipulation of scientific information, causing it to deviate from observed studies. It also includes behavior by a scientist that does not adhere to accepted ethical and scientific standards.
The journal does not consider honest errors or honest disagreements regarding the planning, implementation, interpretation, or evaluation of research methods or results as "misconduct". Nor does it consider misconduct unrelated to the scientific process.
If plagiarism or self-plagiarism is detected, the article is excluded from the issue at any stage of preparation.
VI. Correction of Errors and Article Retraction
In case errors are found in the text of an article that affect its comprehension but do not distort the reported research results, they may be corrected by replacing the PDF file of the article and indicating the error within the file itself and on the article's webpage on the journal's website.
If errors are found in the text of an article that distort the research results, or in case of plagiarism, misconduct by the author(s) involving falsification and/or fabrication of data, the article may be retracted. The initiative for retracting an article may come from the editorial board, the author, an organization, or an individual.
A retracted article is marked with the label "Article Retracted," and information about the reason for the retraction is provided on the article's webpage. Information about the retraction is sent to databases where the journal is indexed.

Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.
Internet links are provided as a complete URL.
Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text (and not at the end of the document).
Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in Regulations located in the Part "About Us."
Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the anonymity of reviewing.
